with impact
Rough House Media helps purpose-driven organisations communicate memorably — through media training, presentation coaching, crisis communications and powerful video storytelling.
Our mission is to help you explain why your work matters. We understand the realities not-for-profits and civil society face: diverse audiences, complex topics, limited resources, reputational risk and emotionally difficult stories.
Our clients
Who we work with
We build communication skills for purpose driven organisations which have something important to say, including charities, civil society, membership organisations and the public sector. Among others, our clients include Westminster Abbey, the International Chamber of Shipping, Leicester University, Bowel Cancer UK, the Charities Aid Foundation, Plan International, Kew Gardens and Help for Heroes.
Charities
We work with a wide range of not-for-profits, both those campaigning for good causes and those providing services – at home and abroad. We’ve trained everyone from senior leadership, specialists and fundraisers to volunteers and peer educators. We offer a 15% discount for charities.
Professional organisations
Membership and chartered bodies face a particular challenge: communicating with multiple audiences – government, members, regulators and the general public. We train their senior leadership, experts and presidential teams how to get their message across clearly and simply to increase their impact.
Public sector
Public sector organisations range from hospitals and educators to regulators, arms-length bodies and cultural institutions. We have a strong track record training all of these, helping them communicate with confidence, clarity & conviction and build trust, authority and emotional connection.
What we do
Communications matter more than ever
Civil society is filled with experts, advocates and committed leaders. However, being knowledgeable and passionate about your cause doesn’t necessarily make you media-ready. If your organisation wants to raise its profile, influence policy, engage supporters or attract funding, powerful communication has to be central to your mission.
We help charities communicate with impact — through training, crisis communications and powerful video storytelling.
Crisis Interview Training
Delegates learn how to handle challenging interviews when their organisation is under fire.
They pit their wits against a hostile reporter, learning how to hold their own and deliver their key messages with calm authority no matter how tough the interview.
We simulate real-life scenarios so your senior spokespeople can practise before the real thing.
Crisis Management Training
Our bespoke courses will help you build a crisis communications strategy that will protect your reputation effectively and restore public trust.
Topics include assessing risks, shaping strong messages and creating a robust crisis plan, as well as providing a step-by-step guide to handling an unfolding crisis
Crisis Simulations
Our fast and furious crisis simulations will put your team through their paces while a rapidly unfolding critical situation evolves.
They are designed to test the ability and judgement of both senior leaders and PR teams as you put your crisis plan into practice.
Choose from a paper exercise, or a more complex simulation with calls, social media and video.
