Did you know that if you leave your dog in a car on a sunny day, the car can become so hot that the dog’s internal organs start to cook and within 20 minutes it could be dead?
No, nor did I, until the Kennel Club asked Rough House to produce a video for the Dogs Today Don’t Cook Your Dog campaign, which it supports.
We had several discussions about the best way to produce a film which really brought the dangers home to people.
Obviously a prime consideration was that no dogs should be harmed during our filming, so we recruited the Kennel Club veterinary advisor Nick Blayney to conduct an experiment to see just how it became in a car within 20 minutes.
As a vet he’d seen many dogs die as a result of the thoughtlessness of their owners.
Have a look at the finished film, and please spread the word that if you leave your dog in a car – even for just a few minutes, they could die.
